I’m a researcher and data scientist at Mastercard’s AI Garage in Gurgaon, working at the intersection of applied ML and research publication. My day-to-day involves fraud detection systems at scale; my research involves understanding why models behave the way they do under distributional pressure.
I did my MTech in AI at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, where I worked with Prof. Soma Biswas on representation learning and generalized category discovery. Before that, I studied computer science at Government College of Engineering, Kannur — which I got into without much fuss, and left with a GATE rank that opened the IISc door.
I care about research that sits close enough to real problems to be honest about what’s hard. Most of my intuitions about class imbalance, label noise, and distribution shift have been sharpened by actually working with large-scale financial data — not just reading about it.
Outside work: I write, I birdwatch (recently: a Yellow-footed Green Pigeon nesting in a Gulmohar outside my window), and I think too much about bookshops and dream of owning one some day.
